Our Board, Scrutiny and Audit committee and Rail North committee meetings will be open to the public. However, in order to fulfil our obligations on commercial confidentiality and data protection, the public will be excluded from being present for certain agenda items where confidential or ‘exempt’ information is discussed.

The Scrutiny Committee has been established to review the decisions of the Transport for the North Board. Members can scrutinise and challenge the arrangements, and investigate matters of strategic importance to residents, those travelling within the combined administrative areas, and other stakeholders.

The Rail North Committee shall consider and advise the Transport for the North Board on all matters relating to rail franchise and contract management in the Rail North area.
The Audit and Governance Committee is a key component of corporate governance providing an independent, high-level focus on the audit, assurance and reporting framework underpinning financial management and governance arrangements.

The General Purposes Committee has power to determine any matter which is not reserved to the Transport for the North Board nor delegated to the Rail North Committee and which is not decided by the Chief Executive under his delegated authority.
