We are piloting a Connected Mobility Hub to support Local Transport Authorities (LTAs) with added capacity as they deliver on the ambitions of the National Bus Strategy.

It is a database of resources providing support and adding ‘set-up’ capacity to LTAs as they work to improve the ticketing, information, and general digital offer for passengers in their area.

The pilot will also assess the viability of this as a tool for northern authorities and the longer-term business model for the hub to help reduce duplicated effort and spend across partners for areas of common delivery.

The mission statement

Our Connected Mobility Hub will provide LTAs with additional specialist capacity to support developing and deploying digital and ticketing initiatives.

The Hub acts as a primer providing set-up technical, commercial and governance support for those initiatives and helps ensures that the Authority is in the best position to implement and deliver them in a business-as-usual capacity.

The ‘Hub’ is all about supporting partners across the North with a bit of added capacity to help them realise their ambitions for smarter and more connected journeys for passengers.

Objectives and outputs of the Connected Mobility Hub

We aim to provide support for at least five key digital mobility projects being delivered by Northern Local Transport Authorities.

In developing the resource, we will evaluate and assess the business model for long-term delivery of the Hub.

Where viable, we will produce an Outline Business case that identifies a future approach to funding, the volume of uptake, and a target operating model.

Supporting local delivery

Subject to the outcomes of the Connected Mobility Hub pilot, our Connected Mobility Strategy will identify ways we can support local delivery of mobility solutions through adding capacity.

This would be in addition to building and sharing the robust evidence base with our partners across the North.
