Northern’s updated service recovery plan | Transport for the North Friday 1st June 2018

It has today been confirmed that rail operator Northern will launch a service Recovery Plan. This will involve an interim timetable being implemented from Monday 4 June 2018.

Plan to Improve Northern Rail Services Wednesday 23rd May 2018

Transport for the North and the Department for Transport, acting through The Rail North Partnership, have agreed a plan with Northern in response to the current performance issues.

A spokesperson for Transport for the North said:

“Transport for the North is extremely disappointed and concerned with the inadequate performance of Northern. We have formally raised these concerns with Northern making it clear that we want more to be done to rectify the performance issues and to mitigate against impacts on passengers and for action to be taken immediately.

Rail users urged to check new timetables before travelling | May 2018 Friday 18th May 2018

New Chief Executive takes post Monday 22nd January 2018

Transport for the North’s new chief executive, Barry White, took up post on 10 January and has taken the first steps in leading the organisation in its most monumental year to date.

Becoming England’s first Sub-national Transport Body Thursday 18th January 2018

On Monday 15th January, The House of Commons approved regulations for Transport for the North to become the first Sub-national Transport Body in England. Following the successful approval from the House of Lords on the 18th December, this will come to force on 1st April 2018.
