I am interested in applying for a role with Transport for the North, can I submit a CV?

Unfortunately, we do not accept CVs unless otherwise is specified in the job advert. To ensure our process is fair and in line with our recruitment and selection process we ask candidates to complete an application form.

I wish to apply for more than one vacancy which you are currently advertising, can I submit the same application form for more than one post?

Each position is different and therefore may have a different set of essential and desirable criteria. Therefore to ensure you have fully demonstrated the criteria for each role we would recommend you that you complete an application form and supporting statement for each role you are interested in.

Can I attach a CV to my application form?

Yes you can, however, we would ask you fully complete the application form and the supporting statement if you are to maximise your chances of being shortlisted.

How old do I need to be to be employed by Transport for the North?

You need to be 16 and have officially left school. This is typically the last weekend in June.

How do I sign the application form, when it is an electric form?

We ask that you type in your full name. If you are then selected for interview, you will be asked to sign your form at this point. We do ask you not to sign any other part of your application form, only where it states you to.

Can I still apply after the closing date?

Once the closing date has passed you cannot apply for a post. Any applications received will be noted as late and will not be considered.

What happens once I submit my application form online?

Once you submit your application online, you will receive an e-mail notification confirming receipt of your application.

How will I know if I’ve been short-listed?

All our posts are short-listed within 20 working days of the closing date. If you have been short-listed you will be invited to attend an interview. We do, also inform all unsuccessful candidates by email who aren’t short-listed.

Can I receive feedback if I’m not successful in being short-listed for interview?

Yes, feedback will be provided by a member of our HR & Skills Team on request, please email [email protected]

Please note this may take up to 10 working days for us to respond to your request, you will receive an acknowledgement of your request within two working days.

What will happen next if I am successful at interview?

All our offers are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, references, occupational health (medical) screening and where appropriate an DRB checks. Initially you will receive a provisional offer letter. Once all clearances have been received your full job description and terms and conditions of employment will be sent to you.

What happens if I am invited to attend an interview?

This will be communicated either by email, telephone or letter. You will receive an interview letter, location map and any other relevant information you may need.

 

Will I receive feedback on my interview if I am not successful?

If you were unsuccessful after your interview we aim to contact you within five working days to inform you of the outcome.
