An expert team will gather during Transport for the North’s Annual Conference on Monday, December 14, where they will highlight innovative and sustainable technologies that could help the decarbonisation of travel and transport across the North of England.
The “Decarbonisation in the North” breakout session will focus on the vision to tackle one of the region’s biggest challenges – decarbonising transport.
Amongst the speakers will be Lord Callanan and North of Tyne Mayor, Jamie Driscoll. Together with Transport for the North’s Director of Integrated and Smart Travel, Jeremy Acklam, Dr Danielle Densley Tingley, from University of Sheffield, and Chris Tighe, North East Correspondent for the Financial Times, the expert panel will discuss the initiatives and projects that will help to secure a sustainable future for the North.
The panel will highlight the importance of introducing a Smart North Ecosystem, as well as the need to decarbonise and transform the North, by creating a system that incentivises travel in new ways. Additionally, the “smart transport revolution” will be debated – highlighting the need to digitalise the entire transport chain.
The debate around how the North can achieve a sustainable future will be part of a wider day of informative discussions during the #TfN20 Conference.
The annual conference this year takes place online on Monday 14 December from 10.30am, with registration free.
