Graeme Whitfield, The Journal Editor on TfN23 media partnership

Graeme Whitfield, The Journal Editor said: “It’s great to have Transport for the North’s conference in Newcastle. A better transport system for the North East is one of the factors that is constantly mentioned to me by business leaders as a route that could help unlock the region’s economic potential. I’m looking forward to hearing what regional leaders have to say and how we can keep the pressure on the Government to provide us with the infrastructure we so badly need.”

Ian McNeal, Teesside Live Editor said: “The issue of transport remains central to efforts to develop the Teesside economy and we are proud to support Transport for the North’s conference.

“Whether it’s improving train links, delivering improvements to bus services or securing road upgrades it’s essential that this issue remains in the spotlight to bring about much-needed benefits to people across our area.”

Helen Dalby, Audience and Content Director for Reach’s publications across the North East, Yorkshire and Humber region, said: “I’m delighted that Chronicle Live, The Journal and Teesside Live will be involved in supporting and publicising this important conference to discuss the region’s transport needs and priorities in 2023 and beyond.

“Our regional newspapers have previously joined forces with other titles in our wider region to campaign on the vital matter of the investment needed in the North’s transport network, and it’s our belief that the North East deserves rhetoric to be replaced with reality to give our cities, towns and rural communities the connections they so urgently need to be economically competitive.”

Martin Tugwell on TfN23 Media Partnership

Martin Tugwell, Chief Executive of Transport for the North, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Chronicle Live, the Journal and Teesside Live at our Annual Conference. The collaboration is a clear indication of their mission to helping people understand issues and holding our elected representatives and public bodies to account.

“Our conference will provide a platform to discuss our plans, priorities and aspirations for improved transport connectivity that will help unlock the economic potential of our region. Through collaboration and vital strategic transport investment, we can build a new North of England to the benefit of our existing communities and for the generations to come.”
