With a large region of key roads to maintain for the thousands of visitors who travel to North Yorkshire every year – North Yorkshire has a clear transport strategy to keep its roads safe.

Planned Transport Investment for North Yorkshire

We are supporting the £3,6m upgrade to the A1(M)/A59 junction 47 at Allerton Park. Additionally, we are pushing for the £30m realignment of the landslip prone main A59 at Kex Gill.

Probably the most scenic railway journey in England, the Settle to Carlisle Railway, which opened in 1875, is 72 miles long, passes over 325 bridges, 21 viaducts and through 14 tunnels and 103 culverts.
