A diverse area with a thriving cultural scene, famous for its textile manufacturing, art and heritage. Once visited by Gandhi, Blackburn with Darwen is perfectly placed with miles of countryside on the doorstep.

Planned Transport Investment for Blackburn with Darwen

As part of our work to support Blackburn, we are pushing for the Lancashire Cycling and Walking Strategy investment programme to be delivered through the Local Transport Plan which includes further linkages to the Weavers Wheel and the wider East Lancashire Strategic Cycle Network. Additionally, we are looking at a new public right of way to improve walking and cycling accessibility, connecting future housing developments with the town centre and public transport.

Bringing business home

Building on Blackburn with Darwen’s rich industrial heritage, the Hive Ambassadors Network unites local businesses, organisations and individuals in a powerful network to help challenge perceptions and boost the town’s profile.

Launched in autumn 2016, Ian Brown, Chair of the Hive Ambassadors Network explains how Hive mobilises businesses to be proactive advocates with the power to influence how Blackburn with Darwen is marketed, how it is portrayed in the media and to raise awareness of the town among key national and regional influencers.
