Home to the Lake District National Park, the area of Cumbria contains England’s highest mountains, some of England’s biggest lake and tarns and is one of the most beautiful areas to visit in the UK.

Planned Transport Investment for Cumbria

We are supporting the region with campaigning for £7 million of NPIF funding, which will be used to deliver junction and capacity improvements in Kendal, Barrow, Whitehaven and Carlisle. There is also £4 million investment for road over rail access bridge at the Port of Workington, as well as £120 million for an infrastructure Recovery Programme.

National Roads Fund

We’ve worked with Cumbria County Council to submit a bid for funding for the A595 and Kendal Northern Access Route.

If supported by the National Roads Fund, these schemes would reduce congestion, improve reliability, and support local housing and business growth.
