Greater Manchester is one of the country's most successful city-regions. The first industrial city, the birthplace of indie rock, and forever symbolised by the iconic worker bee.

Planned Transport Investment for Greater Manchester

Our role is to promote town and city centre regeneration and connectivity schemes, and we’re also pushing for £160 million investment in walking and cycling schemes across the region. Adding to this, we are helping deliver the Metrolink Airport Terminal 2 extension, additional Metrolink carriages and associated infrastructure, as well as the tram-train pathfinder.

“Greater Manchester and the North have huge potential but for far too long we have been held back because our transport and infrastructure is simply not good enough. Our residents deserve a transport system that works for us both now and in the future.”

Five Qs with...Chris Boardman

We sat down with Chris Boardman, former Olympic champion and Walking and Cycling Commissioner for Greater Manchester, to ask him five questions, including why the Government should prioritise investment in the North, what he’s most proud of, and why he loves living in the North.

National Roads Fund

We’ve worked with Greater Manchester Combined Authority to submit a bid for funding for the A34 in Cheadle and the Wigan East-West scheme.

If supported by the National Roads Fund, these schemes would support active travel, significantly reduce congestion on key strategic routes, and improve road safety.
